Future Stars Camp | Savannah & Albany Tryouts

The Florid-Georgia Future Stars Game has grown into one of the must see youth football all-star events in the country.  The talent that has come thru this game each year has been second to none, and they were expecting more of the same this year for the 9^th annual game.

Team Georgia kicked off its annual tryouts last weekend with camps in Savannah and Albany.  And it did not disappoint as there was plenty of talent in weekend number one to set the stage for another extremely talented event in 2019.  So we will take a moment to look at some of the “future stars” from this past weekend’s camps:

Offensive Linemen:
As the saying goes, games are won in the trenches, and Team Georgia say a lot of trench warriors in weekend one.
Harrison Hall –  at 6-1 and 225lbs Hall has the perfect frame for  offensive linemen in today’s wide open offensive schemes. And did this kid go to work during camp.  With his lunch pale workers mentality, Hall was a kid that one would say “has that dog in him”.  Time after time you could see him tied up in physical one on one battles and with tenacity, strength and will, he was winning most of those battles. Another of a series of offensive linemen FSG has seen from the Albany/Lee County area.

Walter Mathis Jr – the 6^th grader from Savannah should all the tools to be a big time left tackle in the future.  Long reach, great technique, good motor and a perfect mentality to be a leader in the trenches.  He was physical and persistent during one on one drills.

Jacobe Ward – this 6^th grader is one of those interior line road graders. At 5-10 and 250lbs Ward has good balance and lateral movement, but he is big and physical.  When he engages with his size and leverage, he usually is seen driving his man off the ball.  This Savannah kid will be a run blocking force for years to come.

Running Backs:

Donovan Johnson – Remember this name.  Several years ago a young man burst on to the seen at the Savannah Future Stars Camp and had an article written about him just like this one.  Years, later Nolan Smith was the #1 recruit in the country.  World meet Donovan Johnson.  5-11 and 193lbs 6^th grader from Savannah that ran the second fastest 40 time of any 6^th grader at Future Stars this year.  The kid is very fluid, smart, humble, works hard

and has all of the tools to be elite player.

Kam Davis – This name needs no introduction.  This 7^th grader from Albany is returning for his second FSG game after winning the MVP of the 2018 game.  He was also recently selected as the 7th Grade player of the year for the state of Georgia.  This do it all back is fast with a high football IQ and a physique and body of a kid much older.  Look forward to another stellar performance from Kam in the Future Stars Game.  am Davis was not one
Wide Receivers:

Javell Kimble – Kimble is a long(6-0) and athletic 8^th grader with extremely soft hands, great hand-eye coordination and good route running for a kid his age.  The kid from Ashburn Georgia is physical with a playmakers mentality.  He has all of the tools, including that “it factor” that puts this young man on a path to be one of the elite receivers in the state of Georgia.  With his large hands and concentration, he makes every ball in the area catchable with his ability to make acrobatic catches.

Edward Coleman  – simply put, this 6^th grader is always going to be one of the best, if not the best athlete on the field at all times.  He is an effortless athlete with good hands and field awareness.  He has a competitive attitude with a desire to excel.  He is explosive in and out of breaks creating ability to separate.  This Savannah product is definitely a kid to watch in the future.

Kylan Fox – this 6-2 7^th grader is returning from the 2018 Future Stars Game, The B2C 7th Grade Lineman of the Year has seen his game truly develop in a year’s time.  He has refined his route running and snags the ball with ease and soft hands. With his speed and height, he has the tools that make it hard for almost any 7^th grader to play him one on one.

Defensive Linemen:

Omar White – the 6 foot 245lbs player from Cordele is a difference maker.  Named the Defensive Lineman of the Year for the 7th Grade Division by B2C he is big, strong, physical and dominant defensive lineman that will demand double teams and force teams to scheme and game plan against him.

Ezekiel Carter – he is returning for his second Future Stars Game, and the big defensive end is an impact player.  Carter was hampered by injuries during the camp, but the player has a great build to be a strong side defensive end.

Eric Almond – Almond is a compact fire plug interior guy with an explosive first step, great leverage and plays with passion.

Defensive Back :
Devin Collier – Collier is a physical, strong corner that is quick and has great cover skills.  He is physical on the jam, and can give receivers issues trying to get a release

Xavier Holzendorf – He is a play making safety with excellent ability to diagnose plays and break on the ball.  He can play sideline to sideline when the ball goes into the air, erasing deep balls for offensive teams.

Marlon Evans – Evans is an elite athlete that could play on either side of the ball.  Defensively he uses his athletic ability and quickness to make him a promising corner.

Savannah and Albany provided Team Georgia with everything they need to start a successful 2019 tryout series.
