Myles “MJ” Morris – #5 Ranked QB in GA (Class 2022)
Very few quarterbacks in the state of Georgia have as much promise as rising freshman Myles “MJ” Morris. The dual threat standout led Pace Academy’s 8th grade team to an undefeated season in addition to playing up three games on the JV team. MJ will be at Carrollton HS under Coach Calhoun’s high octane offense, Morris has the potential to break out as one of the best prospects in the country. Morris is as versatile as any quarterback in the class of 2022. He can drop back and throw a dime, he can rollout and deliver an accurate ball, and he can take off up the field for a first down to extend the drive. Morris was named a quarterback of the year finalist by Born to Compete in 2018. In addition to leading Pace Academy’s 8th grade team to their first undefeated season, Morris also played in FBU and Future Stars Game against the best competition in the country.
“I’m able to extend plays with my feet, but I can also stay in the pocket and find the open man”, said Morris. His ability to use his legs to avoid pressure while finding the open man downfield separates himself from quarterbacks his age.
“My best game was against Holy Innocence last year”, explained Morris. “I threw for a touchdown, I ran for a touchdown. Everything was clicking for our offense in that game”, he added.
Morris showed the heart needed to be successful last year in a JV game as an 8th grader. “I was rolling out to my right and I got blasted”, he said with a laugh. “It was one of the hardest hits I’ve taken, I remember that play so well because it hurt. But I got back up and led the team on the touchdown drive. Just staying resilient and competing each play”, Morris explained.
Morris made a name for himself at the Auburn football camp last season impressing head coach Gus Malzahn with his performance on the field. Morris will attend the Under Armour Camp Series next week in hopes of continuing to improve each week before the fall.
“My goal is to play varsity next season. I need to hit the weights but I feel as I get bigger and stronger I’ll be ready to compete”, explained Morris. “I’m going to study the playbook and continue to hit the books to keep on top of school”.
As Alex from Born To Compete said “He has all the tools to be one of the best QB’s in the country and he is going to a high school where they will get him to play at the best of his ability. Those coaches know what they are doing over there. Skies the limit for MJ”.
