Demonte Gaston – Class 2023

Demonte Gaston is a class of 2022 standout athlete for Pebblebrook playing multiple positions including: wide receiver, running back, safety and defensive end. Standing 6’2 180lbs, Gaston is a big strong body that’s been used like a Swiss army knife in multiple packages in different positons. He’s bigger, faster, and stronger than everyone else on the field so coaches take advantage of his talent. Gaston has shown great speed running a 4.6 forty time in the 8th grade. Gaston helped lead Pebblebrook to the semi-finals of the GMSAA 8th grade Championship this past November. “I’m happy with our season for sure we did better than last year so we’re just looking to keep building off this progress moving into high school,” said Gaston.

Gaston has the ability to take the game over on both sides of the ball. In the game against North Cobb this past fall, Gaston dominated with five touchdowns in the win. Rushing, receiving, and kick returning led Gaston into the end-zone five times in his career best game. “That was my first kick return for a touchdown,” he said. “No one ever kicks it to me so when they did so I made the most of it”, explained Gaston.

Gaston enters high school with playing time at four different positions, but two of them stand out the most. “I want to be a safety in high school on defense but I’ll play wherever they need me,” he added. “I love controlling the defense at safety, being able to see everything develop and help coach these boys up I love it,” he explained.

While Gaston loves playing running back, he knows his future may be at wide receiver with his size and ability to catch in traffic. “Against Campbell, I ran a simple “get open” route and made a great play for the touchdown reception,” Gaston explained. “I have great hands, I have the confidence I’m going to catch everything thrown my way,” he said. “I’m able to use my speed and high point the ball,” he added.

Gaston plans to play both ways in high school starting at wide receiver and safety over the next few years. “I want to get bigger and faster to be able to compete right away against these older boys,” said Gaston. “I’m trying to play varsity of course. I want to get to the highest level I can right away”, he added. “Long as I pay attention to all the details my coaches give me and I listen to the older guys on the team I’ll be ready,” Gaston told Born to Compete.

As Alex Benson from Born To Compete says “Demonte is a freak of nature type of athlete.  You only get about 100 or so of these guys around the country every year that just blow your mind athletically.  No matter what position he plays he will be one of the top recruits in the county.”  The future Pebblebrook Falcon will take over high school games in the upcoming years.
